Darlene Bink | RYT 500's Teacher Profile

Yoga is the Art of Living:  living with a mind and body free of tension by releasing the ridged and habitual “holding” patterns in the body.  By connecting with the ease within, and discovering your own true essence, you will move toward a balanced and healthier state of being.  Softening and releasing the weight of your body towards the earth will allow your spine to grow long.  You will discover a freedom and lightness in your spine and a well-rooted connection with the earth.  This focused attention inside your body will bring about a greater awareness of your body’s natural rhythm.  You begin to become mindful, and sensitive… and alive.   Life becomes simple and clear.  It is a new world, and suddenly, everything around you becomes irresistibly fascinating.  Become soft, breathe, and listen.

Over the past 11 years, Darlene has experienced several teaching styles that have allowed her own rhythmic Yoga style to evolve.   She has a relaxed yet energizing style that involves natural, flowing movement, meditation, and pranayama for a mindful practice.  Darlene emphasizes “undoing” and softness, surrendering the weight of the body towards the earth, an effortless breath, length/space and flexibility in the spine, moving and exploring in postures, and learning to quiet the mind.

There are two teachers that have greatly influenced Darlene:  Vanda Scaravelli and Erich Schiffmann.   Darlene completed a 3-year (500 hr.) teacher training program with Irene and Bill Beer of Namaste International to learn about Vanda’s teachings.  She also completed a 10-day teacher training with Erich Schiffmann in Venice, CA, and continues to study with him regularly.  Other influences include Donna Farhi, Angela Farmer, Carol Stall, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and Buddha.  Darlene is also registered with Yoga Alliance.

Darlene is passionate about learning and the study of Yoga.  She enjoys being a student, as much as she enjoys being a Teacher.  Darlene shares her creative approach to Yoga in instructional videos, in classes, and in workshops everywhere.  To read more about Darlene, visit her webiste:

The Almighty Sirsasana: Banishing Your Fear and Finding Your Center.

“If you can do a headstand on the wall, you can do one in the middle of the room,” remarked a Yoga Teacher in Sunnyvale, California.  Was this true?  It didn’t seem logical, especially for beginners.  I was fairly new to Yoga, so I listened to the teacher instead of my own body.  I was with my husband and [...]
