Richard RosenRichard Rosen is the Director of the Piedmont Yoga Studio in Oakland, CA. He is a regular contributor to Yoga Journal and is the author of The Yoga of Breath, a beginner’s guide to pranayama, and Yoga for 50+, an instructional manual for older beginners. Our feature was recorded live at a teacher training workshop at Yoga Source in Richmond, VA where Richard shared with us some of the history of how yoga arrived in the west, as well as how it has changed from its original form.   1. mr.rosen.s knowledge is only surpassed by his generosity to share it…i loved the history lesson on how yoga was introduced here….& having been to many of manuso’s workshops…& rodney’s as well…find the history of how asana practice ‘changed’ in this country interesting..tho,N0T surprizing……..then again …isn’t that what we AMERICANS do best…..we take s0Mething….MARKET it- Market-it-& market-it… name-it…brand-it…build it UP ………………..& wait untill the marketing cannibalizes it-self……..[& s0Metimes encourage it]
    i guess the 0NLY things….that are authentically AMERICAN……levis blue jeans…..jazz……0,yeah i forgot that spiral yoga..???…UGH !!!
