Yoga Outreach began in 1996 with a group of Canadian yoga teachers working together to bring yoga into British Columbia’s correctional system. Since then they have expanded their focus, promoting healing and transformation by bringing yoga to many other populations who would not have access otherwise. Volunteers now teach over 30 classes per week in settings ranging from health care to transition houses, shelters to treatment and recovery centers.

In addition to placing volunteer karma yogis in facilities where yoga is needed, Yoga Outreach also supports its teachers by providing them with training, ongoing professional workshop, and equipment and newsletters for their clients. As you can imagine, the demand for this amazing offering continues to grow, often beyond what can be accomplished with their resources. If you would like to support their work in providing free access to yoga where it is most needed, please visit their site at www.yogaoutreach.com to find out how to donate or volunteer.

For those who live near Vancouver, Yoga Outreach is having their 8th Annual Fundraising Retreat on May 25-27. This special event is a weekend full of yoga workshops, classes, and seminars with many of the best and biggest-hearted teachers in the world.
