Tahnee Fournier
Tahnee Fournier began her practice of Yoga in 1999 in Vancouver BC. Shortly after her ‘awakening’ on the mat, she realized this was her calling and moved to Los Angeles. There she began her formal training as a yoga instructor at Center for Yoga (now Yoga Works) where she was introduced to
Anusara Yoga, under the then Director at the time, Diana Beardsley. Anusara Yoga had the most profound affect on her with its heart-orientated approach and the Universal Principles of Alignments that physically transformed both her body and mind.
Shortly after she moved to the Cayman Islands and created Absolute Yoga LTD, a company that focused on Hatha Yoga in the Anusara Style. Tahnee introduced the yoga and active lifestyle-clothing brand Tonic to the Island, developed Grand Cayman’s first online yoga directory and contributed Karma Yoga to the Women’s Crisis Center, Free Banks Women’s Prison and the Cayman Island Olympic Swim team. She was featured regularly in the local media always striving to draw attention to the positive benefits of Yoga.
Moving back to Canada after the birth of her daughter in 2005 she continued her studies in Anusara Yoga studying specifically under
John Friend (founder of Anusara Yoga). She was the first to be a licensed Anusara-inspired teacher in Canada and enjoyed introducing this transformational style of yoga to her students. Between teaching yoga and exploring the West Coast of Vancouver Island, Tahnee and her husband Gary had another baby and birthed India Lake at home in Victoria, BC. “ Anusara Yoga opened me to the presence of Grace and surrendering to that energy gave me a successful and amazing home-birth experience”.
Having recently located to Ireland, she is loving contributing to the Yoga community through Anusara-Inspired workshops and classes. She is honored to be of the first teachers in Ireland offering this style of Yoga. “My gratitude goes out to John Friend and my Anusara teachers who taught me to see within and experience the Divine in its entirety; they inspire me to be a better teacher and person”
Tahnee is known for her uplifting and inspiring attitude as a yoga teacher. Her classes are challenging, playful and insightful, weaving together both the spiritual contexts and physical alignments of Yoga. Tahnee created
www.tahneesyogaspace.com, which offers free online Yoga podcasts and musings. She is also an ambassador for
Manduka Mats, “ I wouldn’t practice on any other mat, they are simply the best and I’m loving the new eKO Yoga mat.” Tahnee delights in taking time to play on her yoga mat with her daughters Tehya Mar and India Lake spending lots of time in gigglasana and hugasana, she also loves Ayurveda cookbooks, designing jewelry, surfing and exploring Irish Culture and history.
