iHanuman Yoga Features with Kino MacGregor
May 8, 2011
Kino MacGregor visited Ashtanga Yoga Richmond for the fourth time in early April 2011 and brought a wealth of knowledge to the growing Ashtanga Kula in Central Virginia. Friday night, Kino led the class through the Ashtanga Primary Series and claimed that "For those of you who know me, I talk a great deal, so tonight we will practice."
iHanuman captured three two-hour workshop sessions amongst a community of incredibly graceful and strong practitioners sharing in some of the delicate light of the spring evening hour. The light that enhances the beautiful space that is Ashtanga Richmond Studio. On Tuesday morning, practitioners joined Kino for a traditional mysore practice as outlined by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois. In the afternoon, Kino delighted us with a philosophical discussion of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, mentioning two translations she has enjoyed, the yoga classic translation by Sri. Swami Satchindananda and the new translation and commentary by Edwin Bryant.
After mysore practice on Sunday morning, Kino discussed some of the refinements in the hips, abdomen and hamstrings to help practitioners access the challenging forward bends that detail the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga.
iHanuman is honored to present these selections from the weekend. The full class downloads will be available this summer in our New Digital Download Store, so please stay tuned and let us know what you experience. Enjoy!
