Love, Serve and Remember: A Hanuman Story for Ram Dass by Peter Malakoff

Yoga Style:

Peter Malakoff is a poet, storyteller, Ayurvedic consultant, Ghee maker, meditation teacher, and woodworker living in Bolinas, CA. Several years ago he attended a gathering with Ram Dass in Marin County, California, and offered a story in gratitude for all that he has meant and given to countless seekers throughout the years. The story, "Love, Serve and Remember: A Hanuman Story for Ram Dass," is a beautiful retelling of one of Hanumans exploits in the Ramayana, one that wonderfully illuminates the oft seen image of Hanuman ripping open his chest to reveal Rama and Sita. Ram Dass commented that there were parts in Peter's version that he had never heard before, and Peter promised to record and send it to him. This week's iHanuman Feature is that special recording for Ram Dass, a story that beautifully expresses the heart of Hanuman and artfully points to the mystery underlying all of our lives. The background music is Hanuman Chaleesa by Bhagavan Das. If you would like to view the text version of this story with accompanying images, please visit Peter's website. There you will also find more information on him and a wealth of additional stories, poetry, and video.
