What a year it is has been! On SO many levels. I have so much to write about and yet so much is still percolating. One item that I do want to mention is that this year marks the 20th year since I started practicing Iyengar Yoga! I lucked into a 5 day workshop during my travels in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A friend recommended the course as I had already been practicing yoga on my own, with books and classes at the Y in college. Even though no one else signed up for the Intermediate course that week, the teacher taught me privately for 5 hours per day! It was such an incredible gift!
The class was in a beautiful forest garden oasis in Chiang Mai. We practiced pranayama, used the ropes, the wall and all of the props. I started practicing yoga due to a back injury in college, so I needed a lot of support. I was hooked, of course, and began practicing with my teacher, Sandra, a CIYT in Charlottesville, as soon as I settled back in the United States in 2002 and I have been practicing and studying ever since. I apprenticed for many years with my teacher, John Schumacher, as part of my training to become a CIYT in 2015.
I thought it would be a good time to introduce myself to those who are new and continue to engage those who have been with us for a long time. I have a few classes as well as some new offerings available this month that I wanted to share with you all. Join me for All Levels classes starting this Spring, a Level 1-2 for those with some experience in Iyengar Yoga. And for those who do not yet practice or do not know where to begin, I am pleased to release a series of 6 beginner yoga classes! My husband and I recorded these in the Fall of 2019, prior to this craziness that has befallen us this past year.
Check out the details below, I would love to celebrate with you and see you in class!
