During the Fall Session, poses are centered around twists in all shapes and sizes from standing and seated poses to inversions. This is the first class of the fall session and but is a continuation of the summer session with strong forward bends especially in Inversions. All John's classes follow the Iyengar method of yoga, based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, the foremost living yoga teacher in the world. His rigorous approach emphasizes a balance between strength and flexibility, builds endurance, and develops Self-awareness through precision in movement and attention to subtleties of body, breath, mind, and spirit. Level III classes are for students with previous Iyengar training who are strong in standing poses and can do headstand, shoulderstand, and plow with confidence. You will be expected to perform salamba sirsasana, salamba sarvangasana, and halasana for up to fifteen minutes in Level III classes. Please do not attempt these poses without the proper preparation.
