Recorded live on the opening night of a yoga workshop at Common Ground Healing Arts. Kofi weaves together storytelling philosophy into his teaching of yoga poses (asanas) in this 2 hour class. As part of our Karma Collection, proceeds from sale of this class will benefit Common Ground Healing Arts, a non-profit whose mission is to provide traditional healing modalities to the community of Charlottesville, Virginia.
I've long been interested in classes given by Kofi Busia because he was one of the earliest students of BKS Iyengar when he first started visiting the UK. This class gives a nice glimpse of what his teaching style is like. Although the class focuses on fairly well known basic standing and inversion poses, he makes you stay in them a fairly long time and interpret the asanas on a much deeper level. He is trying to get you to build up your own intuitive intelligence in your asana practice, and strive towards performing asana with a sense of "effortful effortlessness" that BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar often refer to. I recommend this for both beginner and intermediate students. Its a challenging class and one that you can keep practising and get something new out of each time.
