As we relax and observe ourselves we can focus on our breath and notice the qualities of the breath. Is it easy or labored? Is it shallow or deep? In our yoga practice each asana is a different shape for the breath to pass through the body. Every asana that we adopt has a different set of structural and energetic patterns. As a result, the places that the breath touches, changes as we move through various asana. We work with our breathing as a felt sense, perceiving the shape of the breath and the qualities of the breath in each asana. The conscious process of moment-to-moment observation of breath and sensation creates a level of internal synchronization that can have a positive effect to other body systems and promote healing.
