Amelia has studied yoga on and off for many years but in 2012 turned to yoga for relief of hip and back pain. Along the way she found that yoga provided an avenue for a healthier and more spiritually balanced life. Amelia completed her 200-hour teacher training in August 2015 with Senior Iyengar yoga instructor, Richard Schachtel, at The Center for Yoga of Seattle. She also traveled to India to further her study of Iyengar yoga with Usha Devi in Rishikesh and Geeta Iyengar in Pune. Amelia believes that a positive introduction to hatha yoga is an essential building block for opening your heart to everything a yogic life has to offer. Drawing from her continued study with certified Iyengar teachers, including Eddy Marks, Mary Obendorfer and Bobby Clennell, Amelia aims to make yoga accessible to everyBODY with the use of props and strives to help students link body, mind, and spirit through the Beginner classes she teaches at Yoga on Vine in Statesboro, GA. Though she teaches, Amelia considers herself to always be first and foremost a student of yoga.
