Aruna’s father Dr. N.C. Nagaraj introduced her to yoga at the age of 14 in India. Her study of yoga was complemented with spiritual studies provided by her mother, Padma. Later, Aruna studied hatha yoga with her sister Dr. Anitha in India. After she moved to US, she was introduced to Iyengar yoga by well-known Yoga Bodhi, Iyengar yoga teacher Elizabeth O’Shea Sullivan and world-renowned Senior Advanced Iyengar yoga teacher Patricia Walden. Aruna is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. Aruna has studied with internationally known excellent teachers at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India. She attended Yoganusasanam 2014 taught by Dr. Geeta Iyengar. She continues to study the advanced Iyengar method of yoga from world-renowned Senior Advanced Iyengar yoga teacher Patricia Walden. Aruna earned her Ph.D., in Zoology and had a successful career as an academic scientist. For the past several years, she has fully devoted her career to yoga. Aruna, with her deep knowledge in scientific research and as a serious yoga practitioner, has a unique teaching style, which brings the experience of a profound development of bodily strength, stamina, flexibility, and deep feeling of relaxation and peace.
