I'm known mostly as Prahaladan, a Yoga name given by my late guru and rebbe, Sri Swami Satchidananda, Founder of Integral Yoga. I've compiled and edited two books of his teachings: TO KNOW YOUR SELF and THE LIVING GITA. I've also studied with Rabbis Shefa Gold and Zalman Schachter-Shelomi with whom I collaborated on a book of hassidic wisdom, FRAGMENTS OF A FUTURE SCROLL. In earlier years I was a Time Magazine Correspondent, Speechwriter for the late Sen. Robert Kennedy and the Platoon Commander of a team of US Navy Frogmen, now called SEALS. I served as Director of Teacher Training at Satchidananda Ashram, Yogaville. I sometimes give workshops on Yoga and Kabbalah and continue to instruct Yoga Teacher Trainees. I enjoy rewriting ancient scriptures in modern language, which I've done with the Bhagavad Gita. I'm now working on the Torah (Old Testament), selections for which are offered here ... I'm known also as Philip David Mandelkorn. I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville, Virginia ... Freely send feedback, suggestions to make these offerings more readable and useful. Thanks.
For thousands and thousands of years the Yoga sages have observed and taught their students that the mind is by nature "outward-turning." That is, it tends to flit about from thought to thought capriciously and from subject to subject like a cork bouncing about in the open sea
