After his fifth heart attack, Deke Cripe was left with very few medical options and very little hope. In desperation he decided to try yoga and meditation, and he credits these, in addition to diet and lifestyle changes, with the remarkable recovery and healing of his heart disease that followed. His belief in the power of yoga led Deke to become a Certified Cardiac Yoga Teacher, and today he shares his gift with others at the Augusta Medical Center's Lifetime Center in Fishersville, Virginia. In addition to regular yoga classes, he teaches several specialized classes including Cardiac Yoga, Cancer Recovery Yoga, Yoga for Fibromyalgia, and assists at Cardiac Yoga Teacher Trainings. He is featured with Dr. Dean Ornish and Dr. Mehmet Oz in the upcoming documentary: Living Yoga: The Life and Teachings of Swami Satchidananda. In this interview Deke shares his insights and unique perspective on yoga, health, integrative medicine, and healing.
